Gone Girl

by

'What are you thinking, Amy? The question I've asked most often during our marriage, if not out loud, if not to the person who could answer. I suppose these questions stormcloud over every marriage: What are you thinking? How are you feeling? Who are you? What have we done to each other? What will we do?' Just how well can you ever know the person you love? This is the question that Nick Dunne must ask himself on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police immediately suspect Nick. Amy's friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn't true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they aren't his. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile phone. So what did really did happen to Nick's beautiful wife? And what was left in that half-wrapped box left so casually on their marital bed? In this novel, marriage truly is the art of war... Wild ride....no resolution

by Cynthia S on Mar 21, 2013

I read this for my book group.....as with most books, some liked it, some didn't so much, some loved it. Though there were readers who were "troubled" by some of the language in it, Gone Girl was a great story, nice pacing and I even thought the end was apropos, though some in my group felt cheated by the end. I think it got some of us wondering what this relationship looked like 10 years down the road! I'd recommend it, I really liked it and it was different from many of the books we read in our group! Have fun with it......you won't be able to stop thinking about it!

Very disappointing

by reviewstar on Feb 28, 2013

Switching points of view was a cute trick but distracting making for a rocky flow. The ending was very unsatisfying. I don't understand all the hype regarding this novel. Sorry I spent the money.

I loved this book. The character development was fantastic and surprising. The story moved along at the perfect pace and made you not want to put the book down.

I liked the book because you think one thing...and then the book conviences you of another and it goes on and on. Keeps you guessing.
