Play script for the stage production "Driving Miss Daisy, " basis for the 1989 film of the same name, also written by playwright Uhry. Copy belonging to producer-director Tony Bill, with his ownership name in holograph ink at the top right corner. Bound with a typed letter signed from Sarah Douglas of the Flora Roberts Agency to Bill, who was at the time considering the property for film development. Also included is a letter of provenance from Bill. A well known and acclaimed film, addressing issues of prejudice and racial discrimination in American society, in which a wealthy 72 year old Jewish woman in Atlanta begins using a chauffeur who slowly becomes her closest friend. Winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress in a Leading Role, and nominated for five others. The only film based on a Broadway production to ever win the Best Picture award. Set in Georgia, and shot there on location. White studio wrappers, noted as Revised on the front wrapper, marked copy No. 21, dated 5/17/87, with credits for playwright Uhry. Title page not present, presumably as issued. 56 leaves, photocopy.
