Post World War II-General Former U.S. Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle tells the story of his career from 1999 to 2009, during which time he recorded a record 155 confirmed sniper kills (though the real number is much higher) Nicknamed 'The Legend' by his fellow SEALS, Kyle's service in Iraq and Afghanistan earned him seven medals for bravery, including two Silver Stars. This book vividly recounts Kyle's experiences at key battles, including the March on Baghdad (beginning of Iraq War), Fallujah, Ramadi, and Sadr City. After his combat deployments, Kyle became the SEAL's chief sniper instructor, and wrote the first Navy SEAL sniper manual. UL-XXXXXX. 381pp, 27 b/w photos, map.
This book tells the story from the sniper viewpoint and from the view of his wife. Quite interesting in the training and cooperation of various units who have their own set of snipers work to get the job done. It is a good book and well written and keeps your attention about what is really going on in the war.
This personal account of being a sniper is a revealing account into the lives of this dangerous and deadly area of our military. A fascinating addition to the story, are comments made by Chris Kyle's wife as to the impact the military has on families at home. This book is a fast read, but probably not for the sqeamish.
