John Held. Very Good-- No Jacket. Book One and a half inch tear to bottom of one leaf at gutter. Stitched binding over opened between several signatures, still sound. Small stains on covers and margins of two pages. Leaves age toned. Spine lightly sunned, top of spine a little worn. A humorous treatment of alcohol consumption published during Prohibition.

Green cloth with decorative black lettering on the front board and spine; this hardcover binding is solid and holding tight with some staining to the bottom edge of the boards. John Held Jr. 186pp. Octavo [22 cm] Light green cloth over boards with black lettering on the spine, and black ink stamped whisky barrel designs on the spine and front cover. Brown and white illustrated endpapers. Good plus. The spine is very subtly sunned, there is a previous owner's name on the front pastedown, and there is a bookseller's small label on the rear pastedown. The text block is cracked a couple of times. Magnificently illuminated by John Held Jr. The Utah artist, John Held Jr., was one of the best known magazine illustrators of the 1920s, and his designs for F. Scott Fitzgerald jackets became icons of the Jazz Age.
