Las Vegas, 1986. A young college graduate is murdered when he is unable to pay back a loan funded by notorious criminal Lorenzo Dante. Two years later private investigator Kinsey Millhone finds herself assisting to apprehend a shoplifter - Audrey Vance - in a shopping centre. Events take a much darker turn when Audrey's body is discovered beneath the Cold Spring Bridge, a local suicide spot. Unable to believe she took her own life, Audrey's fiance Marvin Striker hires Kinsey to investigate. It soon emerges that the shoplifter had become caught up in a much larger operation. Meanwhile Lorenzo Dante has begun to grow weary of his life in organised crime and frustrated with his violent and impulsive younger brother Cappi. Thoroughly enjoyed it as I have all of Sue Grafton's books. She writes in a style that the average reader can easily relate to.

Another Great Hit
I am a real fan when it comes to Sue Grafton. I came on her novels by accident and it was love at first. As of now I have all of her alphabet series from A to V and looking for W. Each of her books keeps you on the edge on your seat and you can't put it down until you finish it. "V is for Vengeange" is one of her best , if there is a Best. They are all so good it's almost impossible to choose. Her mysteries are exciting with a dollop of homour. She has several friends that appear in each book and sometimes play a part in solving her various cases. I love her work and want to get them all.

V for Vengeance
I love Sue Grafton;s books. I have read all of them. This is her last one. It was very good and I loved it.
Publishers Weekly, 2011-09-19 MWA Grand Master Grafton's finely tuned 22nd Kinsey Millhone novel (after 2009's U Is for Undertow) finds the sharp-witted California PI filled with remorse after the apparent suicide of Audrey Vance, a woman she helped arrest for shoplifting. When Audrey's perplexed fiance, Marvin Striker, hires Kinsey to further investigate her death, Kinsey's astute and relentless prying opens a Pandora's box. Was Audrey tied to major crime lords? Are these racketeers linked to corrupt cops? Kinsey's prickly personality and tart tongue antagonize just about everyone, including Marvin, several loan sharks, a stone-cold killer, and a hapless burglar who knows more than is healthy for him. For good measure, Kinsey gets punched in the face on her 38th birthday. An engrossing subplot involves an illicit love affair that neatly dovetails into the main story. This being 1988, Kinsey relies on her Rolodex, file cards, and land line, but her intuition is her chief asset. Readers will wish her well on her feisty and independent way to the end of the alphabet. Author tour. (Nov.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
