The 60s analysed

There was a cultural shift between the 1950 and the 1960s, in the USA and elsewhere, that privileged youth. The conservative view of the changes of the 1960s is that the 1950s were a golden age of community and consensus, that a youth-led counterculture arose that was ironic, mistrustful of the status quo, did not conform to the expected standards of society, and opened the floodgates of drug-taking and sexual permissiveness. In this book, Frank analyses this ironic culture, which he refers to as cool.
