Light blue cloth boards decorated with illustration of Washington and soldier in red, white and blue on front, lettered in gilt at front and spine. Boards lightly soiled, edges shelfworn, corners bumped and worn, spine slightly faded and frayed. Text block in good condition, binding good, stable. Title was first published in 1893, but this is probably a later edition.

Paste-down paper covered boards (Washington crossing Delaware on front, flag draped Liberty Bell on rear), 7x8 ¾ inches, 120 pp, illustrated with 8 chromolithograph plates. Hardcover, good. Corners bumped with cardboard exposed there and at spots along edges of boards, moderate shelf wear, approximately ¼ inch fraying at head and foot of spine, gilt a bit rubbed. Internally, age yellowed, previous owner's inscription (in pencil), 2 inch tear at inside edge of frontispiece, otherwise tight, clean, relatively crisp and unmarked.
