A concise and fascinating account of how materials scientists unlocked the secrets of synthetic diamonds during the 20th century -- and found a few surprises along the way. A bit technical, perhaps, for readers with limited interest in science, but the biographical information on Percy Bridgman and Loring Coes Jr. is invaluable and not readily available elsewhere. Excellent for students of science.
