Having read Pillars Of The Earth I had to chase up the sequel, which would be fine as a stand alone book. I wasn't disappointed - Mr Follett has produced yet another book that kept me up late at nights and had me reading for hours in the mornings.
Once again, the story moved at a cracking pace and I became very involved with the characters to such an extent that I was sorry to finish the book.
So far as historical knowledge is concerned I am reminded of Bernard Cornwell's works - Mr Follett appears to have done his homework and one can get a real sense of life at that period in history.
I would definitely be watching out for any further books in this series.
