Not illustrated. 1914 Excerpt: ...and a certain firm of wholesale dealers, showing that the defendant had ordered from plaintiff 19.000 so-called 5-year watchcases, to be stamped "Ohio Merc. Co., warranted 20 years," for which the defendant agreed to pay $1.10 each. According to the pleadings, about 6,000 of the cases were actually delivered, when the defendant refused to receive the balance, because, apparently, they were so bad that not even he could dispose of them. One of these watchcases. marked " Ohio Merc. Co., warranted 20 years, 732003," was assayed as having 4 cents worth of gold. (See complete copy of record in case, this brief, marked "Exhibit D.") Fifth..Such watchcases are frequently marked with fictitious names, the real manufacturer concealing his identity and thus escaping the responsibility. There are no such watchcase manufacturing companies as "Ohio Merc. Co.," the " Providence W. C. Co.," "New York," "Bay State," "Springfield," "H. S. Manufacturing Co.," or " Columbia Watch Co." Sixth. The assays of five watchcases, made by Henry W. Detmering, superintendent of The Dueber Watch Case Manufacturing Co., of Canton, Ohio, with his affidavit showing that Exhibit No. 1, stamped in case "Providence, warranted 20 years; 1,083,735" containing 50 cents worth of gold.
