In 1925, Diana Pollexfen was found innocent of killing her husband, but the accusation shadowed the rest of her life. Sixty years later, Diana's grandniece resolves to determine just who did kill George Pollexfen in that sunlit garden between the wars.
Death in the Garden is a beautifully written book. It is suspenseful and thoughtful. The characters have depth and originality, and the glimpses of life in 1920s England and modern London are fascinating. Athough the murder mystery is the central theme of the book, it also touches incidentally on how little power a wife had several decades ago, and on the present-day choices women make between career and private life.
