I enjoyed this book - appears written by a physcologist and gives you an outlook on your life and ideas on how to deal with problems.

Kabat-Zinn leads Wherever You Go

by Jack N on Jul 29, 2010

Neurobiologist Jon Kabat-Zinn established a stress reduction center at UMass Med Ctr about 30 years ago. Many physicians have referred patients with a wide range of illnesses to learn alternative healing methods involving meditation, yoga, etc. The goal: to help them learn "to use the wisdom of your body and mind to face stress, pain and illness." About 20,000 clients have attended the mindfulness based stress reduction clinic so far. Mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) is now part of health and healing programs in centers around the globe. Many have incorporated mindfulness as part of their lifestyle for increased awareness, alertness, self-understanding and healing of stress and emotional issues in their personal lives. I wish that I had adopted a mindfulness practice 60 years ago, but at 80 I'm thankful that I began about five years ago. I encourage you to look into this healing practice for yourself. It takes study and reflection, but can be the best investment you will make for your own peace and self-fulfillment. Try it and discover who you really are! Kabat-Zinn's Full Catastrophe Living is a comprehensive description of the program at UMass Med Center.
