Very Good. Spine faded and worn, minor edge wear and shelf wear to boards, bookplate on inside front cover, otherwise clean, unmarked, square tight binding, richly marbled text block edges and end papers. A play about the man who is regarded as the first direct ruler of England, also known as Athelstan. This play fleshes out the scant historical record of Edwin's struggles against Viking incursions and Monastic bids for power in the 10th century, and asserts to be at least as dramatic as the many subsequent struggles of the Plantagenets and the houses of York, Lancaster, and Tudor.
Very Good. Book A very good edition of Henry Taylor's play'Edwin The Fair: An Historical Drama'. Henry Taylor (1800-1886)was a nineteenth-century English dramatist and poet, official, and man of letters. He was very well-connected during his time, and became acquainted with the likes of Charles Austin, John Stuart Mill and some of the Benthamites. Inscribed by the author to Henry Holland, Esq., M. D, F. R. S. Binders ink stamp titledHoddson Binder-Liverpool to front free-endpaper. Condition: In a calf binding. Externally sound, though a trifle rubbed with some wear to extremities. Internally firmly bound, with very bright and clean pages throughout. Ex libris bookplate to front pastedown. Overall: VERY GOOD INDEED.
