My grandmother was given this book at school at the age of eleven in 1902. It is about the trials and tribulations of Ruth as a young woman and are always weighed up by her in terms of what the Bible teaches and how life is about more than material possessions and personal happiness. In my late 50s I cannot see many 11 year olds these days understanding the concept of self-sacrifice. Worth reading though to see how life has changed in the last 111 years.
