Show synopsis The ultimate street atlas of London, these maps contain a huge amount of detail and exhibit a high level of clarity, with land use clearly color-coded to aid use. First published in 1976, the "Greater London Street Atlas" has gone from strength to strength with improvements made to the contents and the map quality over the years. For 2007 the atlas has undergone a full revision involving exhaustive research using a variety of sources (including extensive ground surveys) resulting in thousands of updates being made to the map detail. Key features include extra large scale central London maps at 6.4 inches to 1 mile; an area of over 4,300 square km (1660 sq miles) covered by main street maps at 3.2 inches to 1 mile; and four main map scales, ranging from route planning maps to large scale central area maps. Also included are a London connections rail map; a London Underground map; theaters, cinemas, and shopping maps; a full index to street names and places of interest; and color coded roads, buildings, and land use. The 3.2 inches to 1 mile scale extends from Welwyn Garden City in the north to Gatwick Airport in the south and from Windsor in the west to Gravesend in the east. The 6.4 inches to 1 mile scale extends from Highbury in the north to Clapham in the south and from Shepherd's Bush in the west to Beckton in the east.
