Was Warren St. John even in the "South?" His endless politically correct drones about how terrible the US South makes me wonder if he ever even went there? His cheesey, smiling picture on the book was taken in New York, and not with these wonerful refuges. The best parts of the book were done by his researchers. Do not misunderstand me, these wonderful refugees' stories needed to be told, but with the emphasis on their stories, experiences with glimpses into their hearts and souls; not author's warped views on political correctness. Unfortunately for these refuges, the book "Soccerhead" is a far better read.
