A must read for ALL........

by Tom Dymowski on Nov 28, 2013

This is a great educational read for those who really want to know how the public is being ripped off by BIG BUSINESS. (Republican Party). Our health care system is great for those folks who can afford to travel here to take advantage of it. But not JOHN Q PUBLIC! What a disgrace our country has become because of mismanagement in Congress. We find money to go to WAR but not affordable health care for all of the citizens! This book is an EYE OPENER FOR SURE!

This books maeks sense!

In an unusual fashion, and with clear writing [often witty in the process] Reid makes a good case from what's wrong with the American health care system. Are we idiots or what? After finishing his book I have to agree with him: Yes!

Health Care

by BruceHH on Sep 11, 2012

Mr. Reid has produced an excellent work on health care. In easily read and understood language he provides synopses of health care systems. In general, he describes four basic systems and how they operate in different countries. In his search for help with the effects of an old shoulder injury he researched the health care systems of several countries. In concluding chapters he describes WHO's rating process and those of other organizations. Mr. Reid also posits the real issue is a moral issue not an economic issue. Is health care an individual right for all or only those that can afford it?

My doctor recommended this book so highly that my book club decided to read it. Now we're all having to stop ourselves from recommending it to everyone we meet--it's really interesting, and very enlightening.

New perspective

Well written and researched book. Written in clear language by an author who has lived in other countries and had personal experience with other forms of health care than what is available in the US. Early on he gets down to the real nitty gritty question underlying the basic premise of national health care: the fundamental morality of a nation regarding its choice to provide health care for all regardless of ability to pay. He then compares health care outcomes, structures, pros/ cons, and profits/costs for the major models used globally to each other and to those models as used in the US. This was the information I was looking for and had such a hard time finding in the media. I highly recommend it.
