Cirak's Daughter

by TWilderF on Jul 13, 2007

I was so excited to find a Charlotte MacLeod/Alisa Craig book which I had never read! She is one of my all-time favorite authors--and as fans of cozy mysteries already know, Ms. MacLeod passed away not too long ago, after suffering from Altheizmer's in her latter years. We miss her! (I re-read her Max & Sarah books once in a while; the first few are the best of the series.) Anyway...Cirak's Daughter was written much earlier in the author's career--and it shows. She hadn't really found her voice at that time. The book does have its good points, however, and I will give it another try, no doubt, sometime when I am again longing to enjoy just one more story from Charlotte MacLeod. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for Cirak that day? MacLeod's likable, eccentric characters, humor, and well-plotted stories make almost anything she wrote a sure bet for enjoyable reading.
