Chinas role in the globalized world is examined, taking into account the social and economic developments as well as cultural and theoretical developments in contemporary China. The aim is to present a different perspective on developments in the above-mentioned areas in China, including society, ideological systems, security, policies, diplomatic strategies, and international relations. This volume is a selection of updated papers originally published in the 2003 issues of SIIS Journal.
