Guide to the future

Freidman?s book, Hot, Flat, and Crowded is formed by four different sections: the cause of the destruction of the land, the effect of the destruction it has on the earth, the resolution on how to fix the earth, and the consequences of what will happen if changes are not made. The first half of the book states why our country is in distress and why it has happened. The second half gives us solutions on how to fix the problems we have caused. Some of the solutions could take years to help the earth but anything is worth trying to save our future generations. This book makes some great points however, there are some perspectives that I do not agree with. Throughout the book Friedman is very pro-American which can give the readers a rather distasteful feeling if they do not agree with his points. Friedman talks about how America can be the leader once more by giving a good example to other countries as stated before. But, while talking about this he puts down other countries and makes the Middle East look as if it?s infested with terrorists. These countries are portrayed as ignorant or careless about the earth such as the United States. Although I believe that the United States would be a good role model for other countries, I do not think that Friedman should talk about other countries with such intensity that can offend his non-American readers.

A great book showing the fallacy of our current Cheney/Palin "drill baby drill" energy policy. Sadly, the people who should read this book, as well as, "The World is Flat", probably won't.
