Very Good. No Jacket. Hard Back. 8vo-over 7¾"-9¾" tall. The hard cover has light shelf wear.............................We are very careful when we list our books, but sometimes something minor may get by..
Very Good+ in Good jacket. Stated first edition. 252 page hardcover, includes an illustrated title page. "Jean Stafford has now made a selection of her favorites among the stories she has published in The New Yorker and elsewhere since 1944...The versatile forms of these stories-ranging from satire to interior monologue, from pathos to grotesquerie-are carried out in a style so consistently controlled, so full of imaginative power and so alive to nuance both verbal and pictorial, that the collection takes on a compelling unity in its very diversity, and will add to the already impressive reputation Miss Stafford's three novels have won her." Very nice copy: spine square/TINY bit of darkening at head, upper two corners of boards are bumped/upper edges of boards are slightly browned, previous owner's signature on front fixed endpaper/couple small/faint spots on a couple pages/pages faintly toned. Otherwise the book is in excellent condition with NO markings throughout. The dj is price-clipped, quite a bit of chipping at/around head of spine/heel has minor chipping/one short tear near center, one chip at lower edge of front/some chipping at corners/a few short edgetears. Otherwise it's in decent condition and should look pretty good under plastic. NOT an ex-library, NOT a book club, NOT a remainder. Very Good+ in Good dj.
Very Good in Fair Clipped jacket. Book A bright, tight edition with a bumped spine and sunning at top of boards. DJ is cut; foxed in interior; well ruffled at folds and spine ends; some soiling from handling; otherwise, still colorful.
