But a night of pre-pubescent celebration turns into a night of horror as their blood brother oath unleashes a three-hundred year curse. Twenty-one years later, Fox O'Dell and his friends have seen their town plagued by a week of unexplainable evil events two more times - every seven years. With the clock winding down on the third set of seven years, someone else has taken an interest in the town's folklore. A boutique manager from New York, Layla Darnell was drawn to Hawkins Hollow for reasons she can't explain - but the recent attacks on her life make it clear that it is personal. It was very easy reading. An excellent second book in the sign of 7 series. I have re-read it twice and will probably read it again

It stands alone
I didn't realize until I was into the story that I was reading the middle book in a trilogy, and while it told me some things I would like to have learned in order, there isn't a sense that it's incomplete or can't exist by itself.
It's a great story about good and evil and integrity and friendship. She manages to handle all these truly important issues and even includes some very helpful forms of communicating with people you love but might not agree with. It doesn't read like a textbook or self help book, but you can't help learning as things progress. The love the characters have for eachother is palpable, and their occasionally petty behavior is all to human. It's a quick read and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
I look forward to the first one and the third one. Enjoy. IF you like this you will love the Three Sisters Trilogy.

I couldn't put it down after the first page! Fast moving and exciting. I read this book in one night because each page leaves you wanting more. I am anxiously awaiting the final book of the trilogy!

The 2nd book in the trilogy is a great story, even better than Blood Brothers. You should read that one before this to really get a grip on the story. Well written and not nearly as trite as some of Nora's books can be. This one doesn't feel churned out. The trilogy plot deals with a supernatural demon, the age old battle of good vs. evil and love stories to boot! What more could you ask for?
