Our conclusion also, which describes only the passionate perplexity of the Pharisees, has in it something more probable than Matthew's, which points rather at a determinate plot. For the Pharisaical party in Capernaum was scarcely able of itself to forth and prosecute one of this sort. Still more improbable is Mark's addition, III. 6, that they united on this occasion with the Herodian party against Jesus. So again, verse 5, he exaggerates what our eye-witness states Very simply.
