This is one of the most exciting and impossible to put down books I have ever read. the scholarship seems absolutely OK and is accessible, and the travel/adventure parts of the book are simply unforgettable. Some of the characters leap from the page. Unusually for me I read the book in one sitting and went into class the next day feeling groggy but content. The overall theory of the book seems utterly plausible - in any event I've read a lot of books about the Ark and this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. I know a rabbinical student and he agreed that the idea of a wooden ark-of-war has support from rabbinical scholarship. In fact I would rate it as one of the best travel/adventure books I have read.
