In a world where only snipets of extremist views tend to capture the news, it is important to know that there are uncontroversial moderates who are willing to give their lives to advance peaceful and democratic values in the Eurasian regions. Bhutto presents a comprehensive, complex, and densely-packed analysis and roadmap for a constructive solution to the conflicts and tensions which consume much of our attention and resources these days. It is not an easy read, mainly because there is no quick and easy fix for all that ails us. The fix will take a lot of hard work and endurance, just as does the book. My book club has undertaken this read, and everyone has been impressed with the depth and breadth of Bhutto's vision of a solution to what otherwise may become a tinderbox for WWIV.
