High School Lit Gem

by roatanalternativeschool on Dec 18, 2008

We used this book as part of our 9th grade Lit class which is centered around the motif of the "Journey" in literature. It is inspirational and powerful for students between 14 and 17 years of age who are beginning to understand themselves within a broader context. Sudan continues to have huge issues, and therefore we cross-referenced in our Current Events class. This disturbing geo-political catastrophe of the Lost Boys is very movingly described in this memoir in a way that Caribbean teenagers can really comprehend.
