Austrian School Pespective

by cdevans on Dec 24, 2009

This is an excellent introduction to economics from the perspective of the Austrian School. The weakness of many Keynesian positions are pointed out. A concise non technical read for the non professional. Recommended highly for liberal as well as conservative readers.

The author provides arguments - both for and against -, focused on the various economic and social principles one might evaluate in order to determine if the rich are a necessary component of the success of America. Although Mr. Hunter claims no bias in his introduction, I came away feeling that he had stretched some of his pro-rich points; but this could well be in the eye of the beholder. The book explores the pitfalls of relying on government to take over the role of the rich in fueling the economy; pointing out that while the rich eventually run out of things to buy and must therefore save and invest, the government never lacks for things to spend money on. If the title appeals to you, the book will too.
