Basket Ball & the Closet

by Andrew D on Aug 13, 2013

Interesting expose of a gay man's hidden life in the world of high profile, professional basket ball. Insight not only into the life of a popular player but also into the world of professional sport and its attendant glamorous lifestyle. It details aspects of this privileged lifestyle and the features of it that preclude a gay man from coming out. A rare voice from the world of professional sport.

There were many interesting chapters in this book. It was interesting to read about Amaechi's path leading towards the NBA and the fact that he is homosexual in very "macho" sport. Amaechi focuses more on the person he was and not that he was homosexual or an NBA player. I thought a few other chapters were a little dull, but it showed how having a plan can get you places.
