Eakin's latest book on the History of Latin America is extremely thorough, insightful, and most of all, very readable. It includes the latest in scholarship regarding the earliest settlers to the New World; includes geographical overviews, and the stories of many of the important Columbian-era figures. This work also fully covers Latin America right up to the end of the 20th Century. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in a very interesting survey of the Western Hemisphere.
