It's not that she doesn't love the outcome of that wild night, but since then she has always taken the safer route. So when dependable, devoted Richard suggests a move to the beautiful English countryside, she leaves the hustle and bustle of the city behind, and she throws herself into the picture-postcard cottage garden, her furniture restoration business, and a new life in the country. Her good intentions are torpedoed on a glorious summer's evening with the arrival of Gus Berresford. One-time explorer and full-time heartbreaker, Gus is ridiculously exciting, wonderfully glamorous and a completely inappropriate love interest for a single mum. This is a lovely story of a woman's life and how things change in amazing ways.
This is the first book I have read by Ms Fforde, but it certainly will not be the last.
Our heroine moves to the country with her young son to be able to practice her art, but also to provide him with a better life. Leaving London behind does not seem like such a terrible thing when she finds a home to rent that is perfect for both of them.
I recommend this book to anyone who has ever thought they would like to change their life. This will help you see that the plans you make may carry you into an entirely new and unexpected direction. Get the book and enjoy terrific writing, a perfect plot and characters who would make ideal best friends.
