  • Odyssey (Hackett Publishing Company) – Trade paperback (2000)
by Homer, Professor Stanley Lombardo (Translator)

    Odyssey

    Trade paperback, Hackett Publishing Company
    2000

    512 pages

Lombardo's Odyssey offers the distinctive speed, clarity, and boldness that so distinguished his 1997 Iliad. Lombardo has created a Homeric voice for his contemporaries: fresh, quick and verbally engaging to the modern ear, as the original was to the ancient. His characters come alive as real people expressing real feelings with urgency and verve. This would be very welcome for classroom use.

Great product! Just not what I would choose to read if given a choice. The reader is fine, just not that into Homer 8b...

I would listen to Jacobi read the phone book

by Carol B on Sep 3, 2010

How fabulous to listen to this well done recording. Even though the stories are so familiar, this was really gripping, and I plan on revisiting this audiobook with regularity.
