Briar Rose

This is a wonderful book for teenagers as well as adults. As a "soon to be" teacher I was required to read this book for a class on diversity and this book was a great read and covered topics on the fairytale of Snow White as well as the Holocaust and how one grandmother told her three granddaughters a tale of troubles. There is a mix of both fairytale chapters as well as real-life like chapters which makes the story more interesting and easy to follow along. The tale really begins when Becca, one of the granddaughters promises her dying grandmother, "Gemma," that she will find the truth behind the fairytale, her castle and her right to the throne. As she starts to investigate her grandmothers? story it takes her on a long journey through a quiet New York town and all the way across continents to the country of Poland where she learns about her grandfather, her family name, and what really happened to her grandmother so long ago. It is a wonderful tale of love, war, and family that will leave you astonished and moved from beginning to end. Genre-fairytale
