Spectacular

I am currently reading this book (actually series) for the second time and it is still amazing. It is not trying to encorage bad things about god at all (this is a fantasy, this would never happen!!). In my opinion it is good for all ages 5th grade and up. More

Wonderful!

by W101 on Mar 1, 2009

The Golden Compass was a great book. Many people have tried to say that it is an atheist book and that Christians should not read it. I disagree. I found that it was a good novel and your religion did not matter when reading this book. Everyone should read it at sometime in their life. More

It's basically about a little girl trying to save her friend. Along the way she meets new friends, including talking polar ... More

Lyra over Harry Potter?

Lyra Belacqua is the protagonist of Philip Roth's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. The Golden Compass is the first book in the series, and oh what a series it is. It's completely imaginitive and daring and engaging. It's been years since I first met Lyra and joined her frightening (and controversial) ... More
