Understand how Iraq was bungled

This depressing but informative book shows how true believers who thought they had re-invented modern war mishandled America's great adventure in Iraq from planning to execution. Even when decisions were demonstrably harmful from the start, the planners forged ahead as if immune to fallout from the dim-witted decisions they were making. From individual soldiers and Marines to the highest officials of the USA, decisions and actions were in line with theory and faith, not facts on the ground. To understand how important it is that foreign policy be based on knowledge and history, read this book.
