Maya Angelou shares such poetic beauty with us while explaining an early life that was unique in so many wonderful and disarming ways. This is only the beginning. She has written much more.

I read this book before, thought it would be good to revist. I received this book in a timely fashion, would recommend this seller to others.

For Women

by sd6161 on Oct 6, 2007

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Dr. Maya Angelou is a poetic story of her strength and spirit as a woman. This autobiographical account of her childhood stands as testimony, not only to women of African American descent, but to any woman who has faced struggles in life and found a greater spirit deep within and beyond their self. Her story recounts a childhood suffered through the Depression era, racially biased south. Although no reader can truly "walk in her shoes," she writes with an eloquence so as you journey along with her account of trials, tribulations and triumphs. This is such an inspiring story, women everywhere should take pause and read.
