Lewis's take on two demons....one....old and wise...the other....young....and inexperienced.
How to go about capturing a soul for their master....Satan,himself....and the pitfalls that can arise when one tries to keep the soul from ending up with the Enemy....God!
Once you get used to God being called the Enemy of the letter writer you begin to realize the insidiousness of Satan's role in challenging believers as they grow spiritually. Uncle Screwtape makes it clear that being a Christian means being alert to worldly influence at all times.

I found this book to be unique, satirical, thought provoking, and comical twist of how Screwtape plans to draw Christians to hell. By describing the foibles of Christian church people, he is describing their sins to Wormwood. One has to concentrate throughout the book. I was compelled to read it nonstop to completion and I still must read it again. I love C.S. Lewis's voice in the book. Our minds are in many ways on the same wavelength.
I am not religious, and C.S.Lewis was, but he was also extraordinarily intelligent and witty. The reader is fabulous and I enjoyed this enornously. By the way, another version of the Screwtape Letters is playing off Broadway in New York, with a different interpretation of the character. Highly recommended.
