Nachman analyzes the many genres that radio exploited or invented, from the soap opera to the sitcom to the quiz show, zooming in to study closely key performers like Jack Benny, Bob Hope, ... Could be better

by james s on Aug 24, 2014

A good book for those of us old enough to enjoy remembering the voices of our past (40s and 50s) but it's mostly a bibliographic account of the famous radio people. It's done chronologically, so there's also a historical perspective. But it's a little short of the "whys" of the rise and demise of radio.
