With the population increasing in age there are more and more people suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Ms. Geist was a real heroine to come back to her father's house to assist with his case. In my case I was already there, having been taken in by my folks because of my own problems. Both my parents had Alzheimers' and I returned the favor by staying with them until the end. One point that Ms. Geist makes is that her father could sing a whole song. Their family had always enjoyed music. In my case we were a reading family and my mother could still read and several times asked me to show my driver's license to verify my identity. Loving an Alzheimer patient is easy because you are caring for someone who really needs you. I will never forget the joy I had with Mom in her last years. She could still be humorous and always spoke her mind.Ms. Geist's could only be written by a journalist. I am happy I read as much as I did and would recommend this to any caregiver taking care of a parent.
