SOME WOULD CALL IT ABUSE

by FREDERICK on Jul 4, 2013

Maria Riva--who is, let me tell you right up front. an astonishingly intelligent woman--tells with aching sadness the lifelong saga of her relationship with her Mother Marlene Dietrich...and you just want to WEEP! Dietrich's imperious self-absorption, her random cruelties to more folk than just her daughter...pass, with this book, into legend and stand as a cautionary tale for the ages. Even all these years after its publication, this book remains a must read. Its deep humanity will be a boon for everyone who has undergone an ordeal similar to Riva's, It will serve as a compelling addition to the healing process. To the others who will read this book with their mouths agape it will be a kind of instruction book in what NOT to do in order to be an integral part of the human parade with kindness and dignity. Twenty years after its [publication, this book is as current and compelling TODAY as it was the day it first hit the bookstores. Buy it! Read it!...and grow.
