I really had to push myself to finish reading this book. It was so sad and on the dark side. It was touted as a good read, but it was not for me. It made me feel depressed just reading it.

Both romance and mystery; the author's technique of spiraling back and forth between Victoria's troubled childhood and her growing into an adult scarred by that childhood keeps the reader glued to her pages.
