Excllent book Mar 4, 2010
I found this examination of James Tiptree, aka Alice B. Sheldon, fascinating. Her story of a woman trying to find her voice in a male dominated world is intriguing and seldom done the justice it is here. This is not just a women?s lit book either. Sheldon?s story illuminates the writing of her alter ego Tiptree and reminds us of just how revolutionary his, HERS, perspective really was. I can recommend this book not only to fans of Tiptree or those pursuing women?s studies but to any one who would like to read a well written book about what it was like for a woman growing up and living in 20th century America.
