The ISBN system was devised beginning in 1967, and books published prior to then don't have "editions" associated with them. It's very similar with movie, music and video game UPCs. John Creswell is an excellent author for the area of research design, as he knows the area well, he is capable of clear writing, which when combined with examples makes a sometimes difficult area, comprehensible. No doubt he will assist me in getting through the dissertation process.
This book is the bible of how to design your research, but it is definitely [in my opinion] not the book for a total beginner. As a second or third book about research design it is a must, but it is a little too compplex for someone with no knowledge or research.
