  • An Exciting Adventure Jul 4, 2011

A fun adventure, (the movie inspired J.M. Snyder?s ?To Love A God?), that is a new and good change from magic and fantasy. I love Greek mythology. I find it very interesting how the wild existence of the gods and goddesses are used to explain the unknown. It?s my experience that the amount of mythology books out there is slim to find, unless you enjoy reading the classics over and over. Rick Riordan?s adventure is exciting and easy to follow for anyone. Percy is a good yet troubled kid who must find his own place in the world, as he learns what it means to be both a half-blood and a hero. Because I already have the first three books in the series, I look forward to reading them, but I don?t see myself reading any more of Rick Riordan?s books. I highly recommend them for young readers, but not for adults. It?s not grown up enough with violence, language, and sex.

Bought this for my 14 year old son. He has read through it once and is well underway on a second read.

The movie was good. The book was much better. I advice to read this book first then see movie.

I read this book as I vent all the books my grand daughter reads. I think I should stop her from reading. I am waiting for the rest of the series to arrive as I found the content exciting, the history given in a new and exciting way.
She told me about a series she had just finished reading, when I heard what she was describing I stated "that is Mythology"!
I would recommend this book for any young reader.

I read this book because my daughter recommended it, I am currently enrolled in a Children's Lit course that afforded me the opportunity, and I needed something I could read to my eight year old. Riordan has a great sense of humor, I found myself chuckling quite often when reading it; he also knows his Greek mythology. Kids will enjoy the book, whether is it read to them or by them, because it is full of action and emotion and it is an introduction to Greek mythology for many children. The intorduction explains that he told the story to help his dyslexic/ADHD son and his son motivated him to write it down and share it with the rest of the world. For that I say thank you! I am currently reading the second book, Sea of Monsters, with my son, who loves these stories, and already have books 3 and 4 waiting on the bookshelf.
