Due to a late arrival I had no chance to read this book so far. But it is a hot title and I am sure I won´t be disappointed...

I have been interested in Taffy 3 for a long time. This book gives all the details of the events of the battle of Samar (Leyte Gulf) during WWII. The efforts of the seamen and officers and their courageous action against overwhelming odds won the battle for the US. This book is packed with detail - maybe more than the ordinary person would want. There are good summaries of the actions of Taffy 3 available elsewhere. Still, I am very glad to have this book.

Very well written book. An in-depth telling without the high school history class data approach. The author took a somewhat unbiased approach, and of course as a US citizen I was rooting for the sailors, but I did feel it was still balanced.
