Neil Sheehan writes clearly and logically, and he relates history and anecdote with eminently readable verve and detail. I loved this superbly clear and intelligent history of Vietnam/Southeast Asia told through the story of Lt. Colonel John Paul Vann, a remarkable exemplar of an American iconoclast and brilliant, passionately loyal citizen and soldier. What a wonderful book!
