I have not read the book yet.. I have watched the movie a couple of times and felt there were gaps about both Harry Varden, Frances Ouiment as well as Ted Ray. I borrowed the book from the Library and found the first few chapters heavy going and slow to comprehend the material. Then it was due back to the Library. I decided to buy it.

I purchased this book for my husband two Christmas's ago and finally read it this January. I purchased these two books for my grandson's because they are interested in golf. But more importantly I found that in addition to golf history they would also come in contact with the history of the world in the 1800-1900's. I found it to be an extremely interesting, endearing and thoroughly enjoyable book no matter what your age.
