The ISBN system was devised beginning in 1967, and books published prior to then don't have "editions" associated with them. It's very similar with movie, music and video game UPCs. Hamilton's 'Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter' novels have established her as a force to be reckoned with. Her voice is fresh, her style sensual, her characters leap off the page and her blend of the contemporary and the supernatural is both original and exciting. Now, in A KISS OF SHADOWS, she introduces readers to an unforgettable new heroine: Meredith Gentry. A Los Angeles private investigator with a strange speciality - supernatural crime, Merry has an even stranger secret: she's a Faerie princess in hiding, and on the run from her own otherworldly realm. For her aunt, the malevolent Queen of Air and Darkness, has dispatched her chief bodyguard back to the mortal world to fetch Meredith back, whether she likes it or not. She is to be the pawn in a plot that will transform the future of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. Her role: to enjoy the constant company of the most beautiful - and immortal - men in the world of the Sidhe. Her reward: the crown. The penalty for refusal: death...Rich, sensual and full of earthly pleasures, dazzling magic and memorable characters, some as deadly as they are beautiful, A KISS OF SHADOWS is an unbridled tour-de-force of the imagination where folklore, myth and legend come together with thrilling, erotically-charged adventure.Hide synopsis
Like "Guilty Pleasures" also written by Laurell K. Hamilton; this was a gift from my husband on my birthday. That was in late May and I am on the 5th book in this sreies. This was a wonderful read. A Faerie Queen, a Faerie Princess and magick and all the fantasy one can stand or not. And the steamy days and nights and being transformed to hill tops and meadows just by a simple kiss...oh my get a fan you will need one when reading this series. I could'nt put it down.
I LOVE ALL OF THESE BOOKS ABOUT THE FAERIE PRINCESS & HER SEXY ESCAPADES. I AM SETTING UP A LIBRARY THIS TIME, BECAUSE THIS IS THE 2ND OR 3RD READING OF THESE BOOKS. I ALSO LOVE OTHER WORK BY THIS AUTHOR.
By now, almost everyone has heard of Laurell K. Hamilton and her Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series. If you love those novels, give this series a try. Meredith Gentry is a private eye with a firm in California that specializes in magical solutions for their clients. Her limited talents leave none of her colleagues suspecting that she is in fact Meredith NicEssus of the Unseelie Court, a real fairy princess who has run away from the court after several attempts on her life. As Meredith's magical gifts increase, she is summoned (sort of) back to the court and presented with a surprising proposition from her aunt, who rules as The Queen of Air and Darkness. In this book Hamilton continues her extraordinary way of challenging perceptions of familiar concepts. She takes the cute, wonderful fairy world we were all told of and turns it on its ear. These fairies would be far more likely to slit your throat than grant you a wish. Meredith herself is in constant conflict in this world. She wants to be a good person, but understands that to survive she must be as ruthless as those who wish her dead. Whether you are a fan of LKH already or just discovering her for the first time, this book should be on your immediate reading list.
Just like all of Laurell Hamilton's books it just keeps you turning the pages. I read all of the Anita Blake novels and had to find more of her books. You will love it, the heroin, Meredith, is witty, smart and ofcourse, sexy. Her aunt, the queen, dislikes her but needs her to continue the bloodline. Meredith must come home ,after 3 years of hiding from her aunt who tried to kill her when she was 6, to choose a husband. But the conditions for finding a husband, and ultimately the king to her queen, are much more than what she bargained for. You will love it and want to read all of Laurell's books as i have.
