An extremely well researched book that taught me a great deal about the national weather service in the days when modern weather detection technology had yet to be invented.

How far weather forecasting has come in the past 100 years. Great read on the life and times in Texas 100 years ago.

You'd think a book about a man and a storm would be rather droll. But this is very well written and becomes a book you can't put down.

After living in Texas prior to moving, i used to visit Galveston often. I never really learned much about the big hurricane, and the way all warnings were ignored. I could not put this book down !

This book not only tells the personal stories of many victims of the Galveston hurricane, it also tells a scathing story of the arrogance of the US weather service of the time.
