Hank Quense Book: ?Falstaff?s Big Gamble? was an awesome read, with a twist to Shakespeare Prince Hamlet Story. As in the Shakespeare?s influential tragedies in English literature story goes. In a land with large humans, criminals? elves, homicidal dwarfs, hairy toe half-pints and maniacal trolls. An interesting bunch of characters each has a role in the story that will keep you reading. Hamlet is seen here as a prince but one who wants to be free of the court, and live a life of a simple bee hive keeper, and to live off the bee?s production of honey. But he runs into problems with his mother, not liking the idea of Bee hive keeping. She wants him to bond to the King and become more involved in the court, and He soon finds out who had killed his father. He is approached by his father whom is dead, yet he sends a messenger ghost, that is not him but with words from him. His father wants him to avenge his death. He wants to see his brother in the afterlife where he no longer wants to wait for his death by old age. He wants him now with him in the afterlife. Now, that his Uncle is now king. His father wants revenge and wants to see hamlet to avenge his death now, not later. He questions the words? To bee or not to bee?, it is filled with humor, sadness, betrayal, love and hate. Some parts I laughed so hard I had to just keep reading through the night to see what is next. Eventually hamlet gets his way but he has things that get in the way of being a bee keeper.
A dark elf Othello is appointed to be in charge of the city Homeland Security but with a price he finds out later. His wife?s Godmother is a powerful elf that no one crosses with her. Not even members in her family. Or they will face her wrath of their teeth being pulled out. This is not a pretty site. She runs a brothel ?Wicked Bed? and is pretty much a woman in power one who gets her way by any means. She seems to be worse than Francis Ford Coppola ?Godfather? movies from 1972. As a female Elf version. With pirates who were once warriors. Now they are unemployed. They steal &loot from the ships taking riches from the harbor Othello had to find a way to stop this. He finds true reason for his new position how was chosen. That involved his wife?s Godmother.
This was the perfect opportunity for con man Sir John Falstaff. This isn?t your ordinary story; it has stories of different types of trolls, dwarfs, elves. Falstaff is a man looking for the next scam to con. He find his way to command the ship to help the town but his plan does not seem to work as he had planned. He is always taking a gamble on a new con scam. One thing I can really say about this book it is exciting to read, the story jumps out of the pages, showing you what is going on in your head. I highly recommend this book, if you love Fantasy Sci-fi stories. Get ready to be transported to a new world. I give this book 4 stars! ~Ana Torres
