Archy the Cockroach Rides Again Mar 11, 2012
If you have met Archy the cockroach, you will know that this book is a must-have. If he is new to you, perhaps it's time to try some of his vintage social and political commentary.
Archy is a cockroach and a vers libre poet. At night, he came out to compose his work on Don Marquis' typewriter. Don Marquis was a newpaper columnist with a lot of space to fill, so Archy became a published author at last. Archy and his friend Mehitabel the Cat were the most popular of the characters that Don Marquis used to challenge and entertain his readers.
The tales are "long lost" because they did not appear in any other collection. The illustrations are delightful.
Archy's work is best appreciated if it is read out loud.
